To Celebrate Tony's life...

Anthony 'Tony' Errington

A Tribute To Tony

1st May 1942 – 2nd March 2014

Tony joined the RAF on 22nd May 1959 and trained as an Air Radio Fitter when he joined the 92nd apprentice entry and went on to serve a twelve year engagement. He loved the life and had some great postings to America, Singapore and Borneo.

When Tony came out the RAF he went through a transitional period and attended night school studying for his HNC and HND in Electronics. On completing his degree in the subject he went to work at Newcastle Airport in the Telecommunications Department, maintaining and setting up aviation equipment and systems.

When he was stationed in America, his family went with him and they had some great times going on camping holidays from Nebraska to Niagara Falls. Tony made some great friends back then; whenever the opportunity arose he was off over there for months at a time.

A good friend over in California owned a garage and loved motor sport. He opened a pub called ‘Racers’ which became Tony’s local when he was there on his visits. A memorial service was held for Tony by his friends at ‘Racers', and over forty people came to pay their respects to their dear friend Tony, who will be sadly missed by them all but will never be forgotten.

Tony liked his music and enjoyed listening to local bands and even installed his own Wurlitzer Juke Box at home, packed with a varied selection of 7" vinyl's - some classics no doubt.

Tony loved travelling and California was like a second home to him. Closer to home though he enjoyed the best of the Northumberland countryside; and over the years he used to enjoy going for walks with his dog Trixie.

In sadness for his sudden death, but in gratitude for his life, we have been remembering Tony Errington and how our world is a poorer place without him.
